When we were at the beach a few weeks ago it rained, and rained, and then rained some more! I had only taken on one photoshoot for the entire week – but we kept having to reschedule it because of the weather and I was afraid it wouldn’t happen! Finally the day before the 4th of July we saw a clearing – and I joined this sweet family at a park that I know only too well – from my own childhood.
As a kid I spent many a days feeding the ducks and the turtles our stale bread there – even released a “pet turtle” that my mother had so graciously allowed to occupy her kitchen island in an aquarium for several years (yes, it was a snapping turtle – and he eventually got too big and dangerous! My dad and brother had found him when they were camping and he was thumb-size, crawling around the campfire) I remember putting a mark of white nail polish on Blaze’s back before we let him go there…..that was 20 yrs ago so I didn’t see any nail-polished turtles when I was there this time:)
So I was just tickled to get to meet the Smiths again in Wilmington – I had seen them two other times before for a maternity session and then for Taylor’s 6 month shoot….now Taylor is a year old! She was too cute for this shoot – and had a blast playing with her sugary cake as you will see! And I was just in love with the beautiful lighting through the trees – and the way that the sun hit the hundreds of tall pines in the background of these pictures! Thanks again April for calling on me – hope to catch up with ya’ll sometime again in the future:)
