Where has the year gone? Can’t believe that little Zane is whole big ONE now! Thanks again so much Laura for calling on me!
I’ve seen a lot of things in the hundreds of photoshoots I’ve done over the years…sometimes I think I could write a book about it…..but this one just might “take the cake” on all those stories…..
First off, meet Tana – our beautiful sweetheart of a pet sitter. Yes, this household requires a genuine pet sitter to come stay at our home when we travel. We have lots of pets – and spoiled pets:). At this moment we are at our “lowest” pet count with just one dog, three cats, and two Texas Longhorn steers. At our “prime” we had three dogs, three cats, two steers, and a miniature horse. And it’s honestly just easier – and safer – to have someone sleep here to keep an eye on all these high maintenance critters. So Tana and I have had this “gig” going for years now – because when we travel for holidays, she wants to be around to spend time with her family that lives just down the street from me….so she just moves in at my place and keeps my critters company too! She also waters my garden and potted plants – notifies me when my ceilings spring a leak – and helps “maintain” our swimming pool – she’s a real gem! She also has a huge heart – I still can’t thank her enough for just completely taking over and maintaining our home for about a month when my sister was sick and passed away – and of course she didn’t want a dime for that. So I could brag on Tana some more…but let me tell you about this unforgettable shoot…..
Tana is marrying this super nice LUCKY guy Kendal….and we decided to do their engagement pictures down at a creek near us – and take their horses with us. Tana and Kendal are crazy about their horses so it just seemed fitting….and the area we chose to shoot at was one that Tana had spent a lot of time growing up. We got some incredibly magical pictures as everything was just starting to green up around the creek and the lighting was beautiful. Once we were about done, we decided to take the horses through the river. I had on my rain boots so I could wade out into the water a bit myself with my camera. Tana and Kendal got the horses out in the water – got a kiss in – and then Tana’s horse lost it’s footing – and before we knew it, Tana was in waist deep water! Of course we all kinda panicked – and I debated between running back onto land to drop my camera and get in the water to help – but about 5 seconds later Tana was laughing – which was my “ok” to snap a few more pictures:). Now that I think about it we really should have made Kendal get in the water too :).
Thank you so much for letting me take ya’lls pictures Tana….it was an unforgettable FUN shoot….I can’t wait for the wedding this fall!!!!
Not sure where to start talking about this sweet family….except to say that they are the best thing I’ve come across at Walmart (and that’s huge! LOTS of good stuff at Wallyworld you know!) But really, I met this sweet Mama while shopping there almost 4 years ago. Since then I’ve had two more babies, they’ve had another baby, they started attending Elevation Church – and started a small group – that we joined and have now been a part of for two years. And in amongst all that, LIFE has happened – and we’ve had them to do LIFE with us – and support and pray us through it all the while. You see, they are some of the best people I’ve met. And when I say that, I don’t mean they put on some show of having life all together (because WHO does? I sure don’t!) – I mean they are real, transparent, and genuine – about life – and about following our Jesus.
When Candice and I first met I was grappling with the sudden and recent loss of my little sister to the H1N1 – and trying to figure out how that fit with the joy of soon welcoming a second baby into our family. There’s no coincidence that her little boy started talking to my little boy in the Walmart shopping cart – because Candice and Brandon had lost their very first little babe – Alexander – at barely a month old. (It’s pretty special that the room we did these family pictures in is covered with Alex’s pictures and mementos) Candice’s insight into loss – and her transparency – spoke volumes to me at that time – and it still does.
Though we are both busy mamas – and sometimes don’t know where our heads are 🙂 – I value her friendship – and support – and look forward to our small group friday evenings with them! And I was of course THRILLED when she asked me to do their newborn pictures…as a matter of fact, that is how she told me they were expecting….something that was a big surprise blessing to them! But it goes without saying (as you’ll see in these pictures) that little Lukas is filling a hole that they didn’t even know was there.
The session was so fun – as the five of them are naturals in front of the camera….and so very gorgeous:). And at one point (as you’ll see) Irelyn decided it was my turn for a photoshoot and got out her camera and started directing me where to sit….lol….love her!!!!!
I love you guys and am just so tickled over your little miracle!!!! Can’t wait to get my (sanitized!!!!) hands on him again!!! 🙂
Let the blogging begin!!! I finally finished up with my final editing of the year…then took a few days of just “breathing”….now it’s time to start blogging from OCTOBER – yes, October. I got so overwhelmed with my shooting and editing that I just completely stopped blogging and sharing my pictures….because it was all I could do to just (barely) keep up! So starting with the sweet Stewarts, who are expecting baby #2 any day now….here it goes!
