On a chilly Saturday morning a few weeks ago I joined little Abbie Evans and her family to play on some round hay bales. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do…well shoot with some round hay bales that is! In the past when I’ve tried to shoot in a field of them the farmers have always beaten me to them and picked them up already! These bales had been sitting off the edge of a field for awhile…so there was even a little grass growing in them. Abbie had a blast climbing all over the bales – and I had a blast snapping her in her little polkadot tights going round and round! Thanks again Karie for calling on me! I always enjoy seeing little Abbie’s big blue eyes….those babies are NOT enhanced…they really ARE that blue!
I did a shoot a few weeks ago for a friend that I can’t let you see entirely until after Christmas because I don’t want to ruin a surprise! The pictures are of course to-die-for adorable…and I was just so antsy wanting to share a particular photo…so she agreed it was ok. After Christmas you can see the rest….here’s all you can see for now!
I just can’t get enough of those long, long lashes! Who wants to forget that????? Look for more of this sweetie after Santa visits!
Earlier this week I was joined by sisters Lexi and Lindsay and their cousin Liliana. Talk about a gaggle of girls!
And they were all laughs and smiles….even as we did outfit changes! Lexi was the best big sister/cousin helper ever with the little babies….who got fiesty for a bit as you can see when we put them in their tutus!!!
There weren’t any tears until the very end when we tried to put little Lindsay in a bucket….that little bottom lip got all puckered up in the cutest way ever – which of course made for some great pictures too!
Last week I made a new friend – though this friend probably doesn’t yet realize it. Her name is Sandra – and Sandra is about to turn 40. (Now she REALLY might not be my friend since I’m spilling the beans on her age on the internet!) So really, I’m hoping that if I’m Sandra’s friend for the next decade, perhaps age will be as kind and beautiful to me as it has been to her! Seriously, does Sandra look like she could be a mom to a teenage son? Well she is! Not only that, but Sandra “mothers” a whole group of teenagers as a teacher at the local Porter Ridge High school! (I am speaking from personal experience when I say this…..teaching high school will age you a bit!!! Many of those students just worried me to death when I was teaching!!! :))
So Sandra contacted me awhile back about doing some pictures of herself in celebration of her 40th birthday – in her favorite area of course – uptown Charlotte! I was thrilled to do something a little “outside of the box” (and by that I mean shooting somewhere other than a meadow for a change!) So I did a little “homework” and figured out a few places we could get shots of the skyline…and then planned to wrap up with some shots in what has become one of my favorite areas of uptown Charlotte – and that is NoDa! NoDa is an area of “North Davidson Street” where there are all kinds of little “artsy” places – and lots of brightly painted brick walls! LOVE!!!
So I picked Sandra up and we headed uptown, camera and outfits in hand! Not only did we take some awesome pics, but we had some great conversations too!
Hope your birthday is amazing Sandra! And like I said, send some of those fresh and fabulous forties my way! :)-
So here it is…..the long-awaited first blog posting! I’ve joined the rest of the 21st century….and I’m now a blogger! I don’t have all my “bells and whistles” set up yet – so please excuse the “mess”…ie the categories above that have no information in them! But….I couldn’t wait any longer…had to go ahead and write a post!
First off, a big “shout out” to Meredith Smith, my web desiger, who has done an AWESOME job with my new blog and splash page – as well as my new logo! She always does such a fabulous job – and I kinda joked around with her about it the other night, but seriously, this lady is taking over Stanly County! Her name is spreading like wild fire and every business is going to her for their logo and website…so if you want “in on it” you might better get in line! For more information on Meredith, M Design and her work, check out her website. Better yet, give her some love and become a fan of hers on Facebook!
Speaking of Facebook Fans, I’m also in dire need of them…so help me out and go “like me” here! OR look to the right of this blog and check out the nifty widget Meredith gave me where you can see the action on my Facebook Fan page! (took me long enough to get one of those too eh??! Yahh!!) Well I will admit, things have been a little busy around here with my own 3 year old and 9 month old!
Ok so the “winning family” of my first blog post would be the Jones family! I met the Jones family 6 months ago when little Wyatt was born. Here’s what they looked like then
So last week Luke (2 years) and Wyatt (6 months) came out again for a fun little morning shoot in the fields. Their mom was aiming to get some good shots for a Christmas card….and I think we did just that! It was kinda cold – and the grass was covered in dew – but these boys still had a good time (and got rid of a little energy too!) As you can see, Luke is ALL about some Daddy and Wyatt is ALL about some Mommy!
