I’ve seen a lot of things in the hundreds of photoshoots I’ve done over the years…sometimes I think I could write a book about it…..but this one just might “take the cake” on all those stories…..
First off, meet Tana – our beautiful sweetheart of a pet sitter. Yes, this household requires a genuine pet sitter to come stay at our home when we travel. We have lots of pets – and spoiled pets:). At this moment we are at our “lowest” pet count with just one dog, three cats, and two Texas Longhorn steers. At our “prime” we had three dogs, three cats, two steers, and a miniature horse. And it’s honestly just easier – and safer – to have someone sleep here to keep an eye on all these high maintenance critters. So Tana and I have had this “gig” going for years now – because when we travel for holidays, she wants to be around to spend time with her family that lives just down the street from me….so she just moves in at my place and keeps my critters company too! She also waters my garden and potted plants – notifies me when my ceilings spring a leak – and helps “maintain” our swimming pool – she’s a real gem! She also has a huge heart – I still can’t thank her enough for just completely taking over and maintaining our home for about a month when my sister was sick and passed away – and of course she didn’t want a dime for that. So I could brag on Tana some more…but let me tell you about this unforgettable shoot…..
Tana is marrying this super nice LUCKY guy Kendal….and we decided to do their engagement pictures down at a creek near us – and take their horses with us. Tana and Kendal are crazy about their horses so it just seemed fitting….and the area we chose to shoot at was one that Tana had spent a lot of time growing up. We got some incredibly magical pictures as everything was just starting to green up around the creek and the lighting was beautiful. Once we were about done, we decided to take the horses through the river. I had on my rain boots so I could wade out into the water a bit myself with my camera. Tana and Kendal got the horses out in the water – got a kiss in – and then Tana’s horse lost it’s footing – and before we knew it, Tana was in waist deep water! Of course we all kinda panicked – and I debated between running back onto land to drop my camera and get in the water to help – but about 5 seconds later Tana was laughing – which was my “ok” to snap a few more pictures:). Now that I think about it we really should have made Kendal get in the water too :).
Thank you so much for letting me take ya’lls pictures Tana….it was an unforgettable FUN shoot….I can’t wait for the wedding this fall!!!!
